Murthy Megavan met Surfing Swami on Kovalam beach in 2001, and as soon as he had a board he started teaching the village boys. That seed grew into the entire surf community around Chennai — he co-founded Covelong Point in 2012 before opening his own school in 2021. Every instructor here is a Kovalam village boy from a fishing family, and sessions move to whichever spot is working that day. The school building has a hall to sit in, tea and breakfast, showers and toilets.
