About Surf Adda

Updated 2026-07-09

Surf Adda is a living map of every surfable spot in India: what's breaking this week, who each break suits, and which local schools can get you in the water.

Why we built it

India has thousands of kilometres of coastline and a real surf season on both coasts. What it never had was one honest place telling you where to go, when it's actually good, and who to paddle out with. The big global surf sites mostly skip us, and the local knowledge is scattered across WhatsApp groups and the memory of people who've surfed a break for years. We're pulling it into one place and keeping it current, with quick check-ins from surfers who were just out in the water.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • Free to browse, forever. Every spot, school, and guide page is public. You only need an account to contribute: to save a spot, check in, or set an alert.
  • Honest forecasts. A GO badge is odds, not a promise. We show our reasoning, how fresh the data is, and how sure we are, and we never pretend a model can see past ten days.
  • Schools keep their customers. School pages link straight to the school's own phone, WhatsApp, and website. We take no cut, run no bookings, and host no school reviews. You rate the spot, not the business.
  • Community-powered, community-honest. The live layer comes from surfers' check-ins after real sessions. That's the whole social side of it; there are no follower counts to chase here.

Who's behind it

Honestly? Just a surfer. Someone a bit obsessed with this coast, who wants to paddle out at as many of India's breaks as one lifetime will allow — and who got sick of driving two hours to a spot that turned out flat. Surf Adda is the map I kept wishing already existed, so I started building it. If something's wrong or missing, tell me. I read everything.
